"As it stands I’ve been playing since the second month of LOTRO, have a lifer account, and played only one toon since I started – a champ. When I read about the changes to the class I was ecstatic. First we get a new skill called “Fear Nothing.” This skill removes up to 3 fear affects (level 70 or below), that’s kind of cool for raids. However, the big thing I like about it is that it gives us 2 Fervour points with a 5 min CD (3.5 min with the new legacy). I have already tried to incorporate this in my burst rotation to get a quick rend out. Speaking of rend… IT NOW STACKS WITH OTHER CHAMPS RENDS! Best thing about our changes.

Another cool change is CB now makes a horn sound when it fades. I wish it was a different unique sound, but it’s better than nothing. Also, champs get 3 new legacies (as if we needed more huh -_-). There is a ferocious Strikes Cool down (15 seconds reduce), Fear Nothing Cool down (new skill – 90 seconds reduce), and Dire Need Cool down (10 min reduce). The Dire Need one is the only viable one. With the trait and the legacy Dire Need can now be at 15 min (good for PvP/Solo-ers). There was an unexpected addition was to hedge. Currently, hedge removes disarm and gives you a wound buff. Now it also gives a parry buff; EVEN IN FERVOUR! Yeah you heard me. You can now parry in Fervor for 15 seconds!

Side note: Let fly was reduced to 25 m (from 30) originally in beta due to an obvious “Out of range” melee error. People, including me, whined that 25m makes the skill worthless. It has now been changed back to 30, the error stays (but it should as you ARE out of melee range)."

"As much as players hate change, sometimes the change is very welcome.

First, our banner mechanics have changed to static bonuses, which encourages more captains to use heralds... with the new Tier 5 and 6 crafted herald armaments.

A new attack skill available at level 1, given automatically to new captains, has made our our attack rotations a little more interesting, and also helped with our power consumption by lessening our dependency upon Inspire for DPS.

The traits have also changed (for the better). Precise Ally and Loyalty have moved from Leader of Men and into Lead the Charge, while the Adherent of Elendil and Intimidation have moved from Lead the Charge and into Leader of Men.

Lead the Charge's 4 trait line bonus was donated to Leader of Men, and now sports a +5% crit (bringing a Lead the Charge Captain's crit cap up to 20%). Lead the Charge's capstone has also absorbed the ghost herald from the Leader of Men capstone, now turns Shadow's Lament into a standard skill, and all of the various threat increases present on the current Lead the Charge cpastone have been spun out to a new Leader of Men capstone. The short of it: Lead the Charge is now the DPS line, and it does GOOD DPS.
So what of Leader of Men? Long has it been the completely random and chaotic trait line of the captains. Gone is the old 3 Trait Line bonus to Shield Brother skills, in it's place, the Kick CJ traitline bonus. The Leader of Men four trait bonus is now a Grave Wound forced taunt. The capstone now sports the increased threat to Noble Mark, and lets the Captain share diminished Shield Brother buffs with the entire group. Finally, the toolbox trait set has direction!

So what of Hands of Healing? Hands of Healing remains unchanged. If it ain't broke, why fix it? =)

As a Captain, I look forward to F2P because the changes will breathe new life into the class."

"Howdy! My Beta Journal will be about Hunter changes.

First, Hunters get a ranged skill at lvl 44 that costs 3 Focus. Blood Arrow ( another BA acronym! ) does decent damage … think Penetrating Shot without the “penetrating” part. When it crits, it’s pretty big. Having another focus skill is awesome!

It's GREAT the devs listened to our In-Combat Power Regen concerns... BA costs 0 power! But, it costs morale. The cooldown is 10 seconds, be sure not to spam yourself to death… literally. Solo, it’s great for trash landscape mobs, but in longer group fights, use it with caution. Pay attention to your morale bar!
The morale cost of BA is 5% of your max morale; the cost is dynamic, it changes when you get buffed or buffs expire. If your max morale is high enough, BA makes your healthbar go down more than the mob’s healthbar, sometimes. Personally, I’m having trouble adjusting when and when not to use it. Some others are adjusting better. Its beta, things are still being tweaked.

Second, Hunters get a melee skill … with a 5 sec daze! A level 48 skill, Dazing Blow has a 1 minute cooldown, and at level 52 it upgrades to remove 3 corruptions! We can now remove corruptions on mobs with greater than 50% health! ... when in melee range. Hey, I'll take what I can get. Having 2 skills (DB and MS) to remove corruptions is a good thing. Some think that with 2 corruption skills, our role in groups might change. I don’t think that’ll happen.

Finally, one small change: Blindside can now interrupt /jawdrop

That’s it for now. Lots is still being tweaked, and we beta testers are doing our best to help the devs get everything right. Happy hunting!"

"My first character was a Loremaster. Not a good choice for a new mmo player , but, it’s what I wanted to be because of my love for Tolkien’s works. The learning curve was high. I died many times, and found many places where I couldn’t solo. I didn’t even get the Wary title…

Beta’s changes to the Loremaster class, thankfully, focus on what that class needed most: Survivability. Turbine did make the tutorial and introduction more friendly to all classes in the last couple of updates. But, Beta ushers in even more with a new ordering of skills that makes the class much more viable.

Raven Lore comes with the first new skills. With it, the new Loremaster gets the Sign of Battle: Wizardry. That boost of morale goes a long way to helping the Loremaster stay alive. Inner Flame comes at level four instead of sixteen to help with healing too. You also get more aggro for your pet with Sign of the Wild: Rage coming four levels earlier. Test of Wills is the best change for these early stages, coming at level six now, instead of level twenty-six. Though the cool down on this skill is long, it gets my new Loremaster out of heaps of trouble. Beta moves Gust of Wind up to level eight, bringing it in just in time to start learning crowd control. This skill now deals out Frost damage instead of common damage which makes it much more powerful on foes with Frost weaknesses.

All in all, these changes add up to one very important thing: A Loremaster can now survive better. The changes don’t make the class too powerful, so challenges still lie ahead for this demanding class. My new Loremaster is already at Undefeated though, and that’s saying something"
